Mornings as a mom can feel chaotic, overwhelming, and… let’s be honest a little exhausting sometimes. But since my daughter started preschool this fall, we’ve found a morning routine that truly transforms our day. After almost two months of trial and error, I can confidently say our mornings now run like a well-oiled machine 90% of the time haha. Cause you know, life happens!
Here’s what works for us:
1. Prep the Night Before
The night before sets the tone for the next morning. I make sure the dishwasher is run (this is hubby’s job) and the kitchen is clean or as clean as I can get it. I prep any breakfast or snacks I can ahead of time. Even small steps the night before save a ton of stress in the morning. I even set out my tea and mug!
2. Get Up Before the Kids
I wake up about an hour before the kids. This quiet hour is my sanity hour… a time to drink water, enjoy a hot cleanse tea, and have some peaceful moments before the day begins. This is HEAVENLYYYY!!! I swear it’s worth the less sleep!
3. Protein Before Caffeine
I know some moms might think I’m a little crazyyy, but I always start my morning with protein before caffeine. Just hear me out!! It helps me stabilize energy levels and actually makes that morning caffeine more enjoyable instead of necessary for survival. Look it up!! There are SO many benefits.

4. Time With My Bible
I spend about 15 minutes reading my Bible and prayer time. If there’s only one thing you take from this post, let it be this: a few minutes of intentional quiet time can transform your entire morning. Even just 5 minutes is enough to center yourself and start the day grounded. I also love a good worship playlist. It gets your heart & mind completely at ease before the world tries to take your peace.

5. Routines With the Kids
We’re very routine-based in the mornings. The kids know the flow… when it’s time to eat, get dressed, do their hair, etc. This keeps things moving smoothly and ensures we’re not running late every day. My husband also helps and has specific tasks in our routine, which makes a huge difference.
Since starting preschool, this routine has been even more important. After almost two months, I can honestly say it runs like clockwork, and it has made mornings far less stressful and far more enjoyable.

6. The Takeaway
Mornings don’t have to be chaotic. With a little preparation, a bit of quiet time for yourself, and clear routines for your kids, you can start the day with peace instead of panic.
Remember: even if you can’t do it all, small steps make a big difference. Prep the night before, get even 5 minutes of quiet time, and watch how your mornings + your whole day transform. You got this mama!!!
